A significant demographic shift is occurring across the county, the state and the country. By 2030, nearly 25% of the county’s population will be aged 60 and older. Nearly 1 in 3 residents will be either an older adult or living with a disability. This represents an opportunity to revisit how we design our communities.
The Local Aging & Disability-Friendly Action Plan is focused on improving access to existing resources. Too many older adults and people with disabilities do not have equitable access to their basic needs. We heard that through listening sessions with residents, which became the basis for the Action Plan.
